Why I get up so early on weekends

It’s 8:30 a.m. A good time to start the day, the sun is shining brightly and I am sitting under a simple skybox. Simple… because you only need one colour for it: blue!

What’s so special about this time is the fact that since tonight, it’s summertime. Meaning that I have “lost” one hour. No big deal either. But when you’re playing “Who wants to be a millionaire?” on your iPad until 2 a.m., you usually want to make use of the sunday and sleep at least 8 hours. You can do the math for yourself now. It IS too early to get up 😉

I told my soon-to-be wife Alicia that it’s crazy: If I had to go to work today, I would be tired and would be in a bad mood. Well – you know the point. It’s not that you have to work, it’s WHY you have to work.

I “have to” work on Silversword, and that is a voluntary job. That is the job I have chosen and a job that I manage for myself alone. My boss would be happy if I showed that amount of dedication during my “main” job. Alas, I think he wouldn’t allow me to work WHEN I want – and on WHAT I want. This is probably the main reason for becoming a self-employed person.

Silversword is a niche product – it won’t get me to self-employment 😉 But nonetheless, it’s so much fun to work on it, and support the growing fan-base, that I can’t put it down. Why should I anyway?

Update 2.0.8 & 2.0.9

With the recent Update, some things have changed:

– changed scrolling routine – hopefully this will fix the spell-list scrolling problem
– checked pathing for roadwardens from dwarves mountains – this should work better now
– adjusted some spell costs
– bank now gives a different welcome gift
– conjurers no longer start with harmonic gems
– joined mobs don’t give anymore XP
– lockpicks restricted to rogues now
– continue after Maruziel should work now

Update 2.0.9 is already waiting for review by Apple – it will fix the crash in the mountain ridge and dwarven mountain area.
Please hold on – should be live within a few days. Until that, you may want to travel during nighttime to avoid the bug.

What’s next?

Next is Update 2.08 of course!

I am already busy working on it, and hope to get it released very soon.
Apart from fixing the stuck game issue after the end fight, a new area will be available to explore.

In addition, some modifications to the ruleset were made, thank you my dear fans for the great suggestions in the forum.

Update 2.07 just hit the AppStore… with these features:

– iCloud saving now available via an additional save slot
– Paladin Spell Acquiring Bug resolved when updating from older Version
– Importing from older Lite Version crash resolved
– Put CON cap in compendium
– Indicate midnight via bell sound
– Faster Zone loading

Please support Silversword 2!

Hello dear friends,

while collecting ideas for extending Silversword, I plan on working on a new title.
Silversword 2 – “Götterdämmerung” will become a full-blown 3D fantasy role-playing game in the style of Wizardry VIII, in terms of ruleset and visualization.
Because I live in germany, I cannot start this on
The german equivalent is – a crowdfunding platform which I will use to get the necessary licenses for the 3D environment (Unity3D).

Please help me bring this to live. The first step is to collect 100 fans (no obligations).

I have tried to translate everything to english (use the “EN” link at the top left), and have added subtitles to the promotion video.

Become a fan and get this project started! As soon as there are 100 fans, the fundraising will begin. It will cover 90 days – after that, the target of 15000 Euro has to be reached, or else no funding will take place at all.

Update 2.0.6 sent to Apple

Here is a teaser of what to expect:

New with this version is the introduction of banks throughout the world.
A welcome gift has been placed in your bank account, so make sure to check it out. The bank is not only a place to deposit unused items, but also serves as a cash store when buying items in a shop. If you lack the proper change, the money will automatically withdrawn from your bank account.

Further fixes and changes:

– Compendium: Repeated table header on each page in the item and creature list
– Covered the new arrows in the manual
– Lore not working correctly – resolved. Please note that the game lore system has been reworked. You will see the old messages again once more – don’t be irritated by this
– Crash after Maruziel – resolved!!
– Make non-resistable spells working (there was an error with these)
– Empty screen after viewing PDF – should be resolved now
– Exchanged PDF viewer once again, sorry for this, but this should fix some memory problems

In addition, many memory problems were addressed, and the maximum number of enemies that will be called for help is increased from 50 to 100 again.

In the works for the next update

As always – busy with the next fixes and feats! What can you expect from the upcoming update? Not only a more stable compendium with no blank screen freezes anymore, but a cool new bank feature! No more worrying about who’s got the purse, the shopkeepers of the Comkarthian Empire have agreed to work with the financial council to establish a more customer-friendly economy. Update 2.051 is out!

Finally, the new update is live! This will not only remove the annoying forest map bug, but it will also bring new features to you.

Here is the list of the changes:

– Better introductory help screen overlay when starting a new game
– Show map performance increased
– Show stats on a new tab, just use the left arrow on your character screen
– Block Movement when showing Continue / Lore, so that you won’t accidently dismiss the dialogue
– Curing NUTS bug resolved
– Changed mitre to make it more usable
– Frequently used spells now being shown on top of the spell list when casting

In addition, the PDF engine was exchanged so that it consumes less memory. More performance and memory tweaks (crash issues) will be addressed with the next update (already in the works).
