I don’t support websites which force me to enter my birthdate before displaying content (wave to inxile), but as a true believer and follower of the old ways it is my duty to inform you all that the spiritual father of Silversword has been re-released in a remastered version. Tales Of The Unknown (Bard’s Tale 1) can be bought for Windows on Steam. So far, I am some hours into it and I can say that they’ve put some effort in making things easier. If you ever thought that Silversword has too much grinding – please do me a favour and give that game a chance 😉 You will soon see how it was back in the old days… so happy playing and good luck when kicking Mangar’s arse…
Silversword is on sale again. Don’t know what caused the issue. Enjoy!
Apple has informed me that Silversword violates against the App Store Review Guidelines. They found that my app duplicates content or the functionality of another app… and this is considered spam.
Well – that would be cool because then I could play a classic Bard’s Tale clone by myself finally and don’t have to do all the work. I kindly asked the review team to name the duplicate content or the other app that lead to this violation. Hopefully things will get more clear soon so that Silversword is on the App Store again.
The new update has hit the AppStore. Along with some bug fixes, here are the enhancements:
– you can give items to monsters in the party to improve their loyalty.
– more voice-over information for the direction you are facing (can be turned on in the settings).
– you can now turn off the chest pick lock game (can be turned off in the settings).
– new display mode for party grid. tap and drag the settings icon to switch modes.
– creature kills are now displayed on the boss kills page.
– the ending of the expansion Rise of the Dragons was enhanced.
Along with some other cool enhancements, the Update 2.6.4 will allow you to change the data that is displayed in the party grid.
Hope you’ll like it!
Dans quelques jours, Silversword va paraître en français.
And along with this update (2.6.3) there will be some major adjustments to the game mechanics:
- limited supply of armour and weapons in the starting area
- monk’s chain attack ability adjusted
- hopefully (still has to be done) the Hesitation spell revamped
- combat adjustments for groups with less than seven members
I wish you all a merry christmas and a fantastic new year! And if you’re getting bored, fire up a challenging Silversword game and see how far you can get with only a thief and a paladin 🙂
While my wife is working on the french translation of Silversword, I shoot many photos on Tenerife which perfectly fit into the story that the Flooded Island will unfold. Do you have any special wishes for the next expansion? Just write me an email or post it on our forums. Promised: I read all posts 🙂
I am very happy that Burger Becky (Rebecca Heineman) is really working on a remastered edition of the classic Bard’s Tale games.
Chances are that we might see a mobile version, for converting the existing C++ / Assembler Code to XCode/iOS can be done (by her – she told me 😉 ).
In the meantime, I am trying to get the Flooded Isles crowded with creatures, stories and riddles (for your gaming pleasure).
Thank you all for enjoying the game 🙂
Six candles burn on the tasty cake that was made out of many ingredients such as devotion, love and tons of feedback from you, my dear player!
Thank you very much!
As of today, the game version is 2.58 – which means that Silversword was improved many times during the last years. I have tried to implement many of your wishes, and I think it’s still worth playing – because there ain’t no other Bard’s Tale Clone in the App Store 🙂
Of course, it would be very great if someone would dedicate some more time to the Wikipedia articles (english + german) but I try to be humble. At least, a Wikipedia article does exist – and this is a kind of accolade for me. So thank you again for your support! I will continue working on the game. No voice is unheard, please continue giving me input through the official forums.
