In the silver mountains, I have found the east wind control after defeating the big J monster...

So I take the path back to the door which I got into by answering backwards
And there is a dang wall in the way!! Was I not supposed to kill that monster? Not supposed to set that wind control to the digit from the clue? What the what? I have tried shatter walls as well, to no avail.

Can anyone please help? I saved after fighting the big J and setting that east wheel, but not since.
