HELP

I am on the intial area witond that area, the only thing I can find are the h the castle and tower. I cannot figure out how to get beyond that. The only thing I can see are the guardians and I cannot beat them yet. Any help?

When you are told to head East it is more of a general goal. South from the castle exit and missed/slipped paths are more areas needed to build your character and still in the start zone. The game is truly huge. (But yeah, Avoid the guardians for a while yet.)
